Costa Rica to Host Trade & Investment Summit, Attracting Global Buyers and Investors

The Costa Rican Foreign Trade Promotion Agency (PROCOMER) has announced that over 400 international buyers and investors from 45 countries will participate in the Costa Rica Trade & Investment Summit 2025. The event, held in San José from September 1 to 5, will merge export promotion and foreign direct investment attraction into a single event for the first time.

The summit is expected to gather more than 1,000 companies, including Costa Rican exporters, local suppliers, and multinational firms with existing operations in the country. This integrated format is intended to facilitate strategic partnerships and generate business opportunities across various sectors.

Economic Performance and Sectors of Focus

In the first half of 2025, Costa Rica’s exports of goods exceeded $11 billion USD. The country’s primary export sectors include:

  • Precision medical equipment
  • Agriculture
  • Food products
  • Pharmaceuticals
  • Electrical and electronic products

The country’s economic stability is further supported by its position as a destination for foreign direct investment, with over 400 multinational companies operating within its borders. Key sectors attracting this investment include medical devices, corporate services, advanced manufacturing, and technology.

Summit Agenda and Participants

The five-day event will feature more than 3,200 business meetings, sector-specific trade showcases, and technical visits to free trade zones and production facilities both within and outside the Greater Metropolitan Area.

Keynote speakers at the summit include:

Natalia Bayona, executive director of UN Tourism.

Didi Caldwell, CEO of Global Location Strategies.

Katie McGinty, vice president of Johnson Controls (NYSE: JCI).

Henry Loewendahl, CEO of Wavteq.

The international delegation will include representatives from major markets such as the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, India, Japan, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Spain, France, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Brazil.
