The Dominican Republic-based airline Arajet initiated service between Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ) and Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB). The new route represents the sole active international operation at the Florida-based airport.
The service is scheduled for three weekly frequencies on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. This connection establishes a link for Central Florida passengers to six destinations in Latin America via Punta Cana: Buenos Aires, São Paulo, Santiago de Chile, Mexico City, Córdoba, and Lima.
Manuel Luna, Chief Communications and External Affairs Officer at Arajet, stated that the Florida market is a key area for the carrier in the US. The route is intended to complement the airline’s existing service in Miami and provide alternative options for passenger access across the state. Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) President Nicole Martz confirmed that the commencement of the Arajet service reintroduces international flights at the airport.
Arajet has identified Florida as a central component of its expansion strategy within the US market, citing demand for international travel. The Orlando service is the second city served by Arajet in Florida, following the launch of the Miami route in early 2025. The airline’s US network currently includes Miami, New York, Orlando, and San Juan, with planned expansion to Chicago and Boston scheduled for November 2025.
Arajet, established in 2022, is the designated flag carrier of the Dominican Republic. It maintains two operational bases at Las Americas Airport in Santo Domingo and Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). The airline operates a fleet consisting of Boeing (NYSE: BA) 737 MAX aircraft and serves destinations throughout North, Central, and South America, as well as the Caribbean.
