Stephen Bagnarol took over as the managing director of Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago Limited last week.

The Canadian bank, which announced his impending promotion in mid-October, has also named Bagnarol as senior vice president and head of the south and east Caribbean region.

Bagnarol takes over the Trinidad post from Anya Schnoor, a Jamaican executive who has been running Scotiabank’s operations in the country dating back to 2012 and has transferred to Toronto.

He has come to the Port of Spain office after previously serving as senior vice president of wholesale banking in Peru for Scotiabank. Bagnarol has also worked in New York, Mexico, and Panama for the Toronto-based financial institution.

For her part, Schnoor will now be one of the company’s top-ranking employees from the Caribbean. Her new position is executive vice president for Scotiabank’s deposits, retail payments, and unsecured lending for Canadian banking.
