In a ceremony in Boston earlier this month, CaixaBank S.A. of Spain was recognized as Celent’s “Model Bank of the Year.” The award, the most prestigious given out each year by the banking technology-focused research and consulting company, aims to honor the best use of technology in different areas critical to success in banking.
Zilvinas Bareisis, senior analyst of Celent’s banking practice, highlighted the difficulty of choosing one financial institution for the award among so many worthy candidates. But ultimately he believes that Celent made the right choice in selecting the Barcelona-based CaixaBank.
“Every year we feel privileged to receive so many amazing stories from financial institutions from all over the world, and a little daunted by the prospect of having to pick the most worthy award recipients,” said Bareisis.
“Each of the Model Bank award winners stood out from the crowd for their innovation, difficulty of the task at hand, and demonstrable business benefits,” he added. “The record number of the highest quality submissions again this year is a testament to the pace of change in the banking industry.”
In addition to its top prize, Celent introduced more awards during its 2017 ceremony that are more specialized in nature. In all, the judges handed out trophies to the following 21 financial institutions for the excellence they have shown in their respective ares:
