Arajet to Help Promote Dominican Republic Film Industry at the Toronto International Film Festival

Caribbean’s low-cost airline Arajet has signed a cooperation agreement with the Dominican Republic Film Commission (DGCINE) to support the the Dominican Republic’s film industry in global markets, specifically working to provide greater visibility and promote participation at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

As one of the leading film festivals in the world, TIFF will be held this year from September 5-15 and include producers and sellers exhibiting and promoting their films and talents of the region to maximize visibility in the North American market.

The carrier noted this as a “a unique opportunity for the projection of Dominican cinema” and stated that it will be working to “establish strategic alliances with entities and professionals in the film industry worldwide.”

The cooperation agreement, which calls for further support at other film festivals as well, was jointly signed by Víctor Pacheco Méndez, executive president and founder of Arajet, and Marianna Vargas Gurilieva, general director of the DGCINE, in a ceremony held at Arajet’s headquarters.

“Increasingly, the Dominican Republic is standing out in important cinematographic spaces around the world and, in this case, having once again the valuable and strategic support of Arajet means a lot to the national film industry,” said Gurilieva.

Victor Pacheco said that any assistance Arajet can contribute to the promotion of the film industry fills them with pride as a Dominican airline.

“Arajet wants the world to know that the Dominican Republic is more than just sun and beaches,” said Pacheco. “It is an island rich in culture and talent.”
