Arajet, the Dominican Republic’s flagship airline, has received its 16th aircraft, named “Pico Diego de Ocampo,” at Cibao International Airport as part of its ongoing expansion strategy and efforts to strengthen the country’s air connectivity across the Americas.
The airline also announced plans to begin regular operations to and from Santiago starting in 2027.
The new aircraft pays tribute to the Pico Diego de Ocampo Natural Monument, one of the most important protected areas in the northern region of the Dominican Republic, located between the provinces of Santiago and Puerto Plata. Considered one of the most emblematic peaks of the Northern Mountain Range, the area is known for its ecological richness and its vital role in preserving water resources and regional climate stability.
With the addition of the aircraft, Arajet reaffirmed its commitment to promoting the Dominican Republic’s natural and cultural heritage through a fleet inspired by some of the nation’s most significant environmental and cultural landmarks.
The aircraft reception ceremony was led by José Clase, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Cibao International Airport, alongside board members Ricardo Fondeur and Juan Ureña.
Manuel Luna, Chief Communications Officer at Arajet, said the delivery marks another step in the airline’s fleet expansion as it prepares for additional growth in regional connectivity.
“With the incorporation of our 16th aircraft, we continue expanding our fleet capacity to further connect the Dominican Republic with more destinations across the Americas. In addition, with the arrival of nine more aircraft between this year and next, we project the start of regular operations from Cibao International Airport in 2027,” – Manuel Luna.
The airline said the additional aircraft will support growing passenger demand and expand its network across North America, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.
