Arajet, the flag carrier of the Dominican Republic, has expanded its presence in the United States, announcing the sale of airline tickets from New York’s Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Las Americas Santo Domingo Airport (SDQ) starting with fares starting as low as $262 USD round trip.
The new route will begin operating on June 16 and will serve as a vital connection between the Dominican Republic and the New York metropolitan area, which is home to the largest community in the Dominican diaspora.
“Arajet is committed to making flights accessible and affordable for both the Dominican community and US tourists, and New York is a key market to strengthen our presence in the United States,” said Víctor Pacheco, CEO and founder of Arajet. “It has been more than 30 years since a Dominican airline flew to New York, and with this service, Arajet will make history to become the favorite airline for our diaspora, but also for US travelers who want to spend their vacations or getaways.”
Arajet announced the Gregorio Luperón school in Washington Heights, a community with a large Dominican population, along with the New York congressman of Dominican origin, Adriano Espaillat, as well as the Dominican consuls, Jesús Vázquez and José Santana, from New York and New Jersey, respectively.
Congressman Espaillat hosted the announcement of the start of the route, since for years he has been working to achieve better air connectivity so that the Dominican community in New York can travel more easily to Santo Domingo and with more competitive prices, and that thanks to the recently signed agreement of open skies will already be a reality.
While Consuls Vázquez and Santana highlighted the will that President Luís Abinader has put into the national air sector, with the signing of open skies, but also with the approval of a new aviation law, the necessary adjustments for the country to maintain category 1 of the FAA, and the support to all Dominican airlines so that there is more competitiveness and Dominicans can travel more and with better prices.
Once in Santo Domingo, travelers can stay to explore what the country has to offer or easily fly to 24 destinations. EWR will be the perfect gateway to the New York region due to its central location, excellent public transportation connections, and proximity to Manhattan.
Passengers can expect flexible fare options with the ability to tailor their travel experience, plus additional benefits such as extra legroom, checked bags, and priority boarding. Passengers can book now and purchase affordable flights, with fares starting at $127 USD from Newark to Santo Domingo and $135 USD from Santo Domingo to Newark.
